Cannie Wind Farm

A new wind farm project in Australia

Project Location

The proposed Project is located approximately 25 kilometres northwest of Kerang in north-west Victoria in the Murray River Renewable Energy Zone (REZ). The wind farm site is approximately 17,000 hectares of farm land predominately used for cropping and grazing.

The site has been selected as it is ideal for a renewable energy development for the following reasons:

  • Good wind resources;
  • Interfacing with the upcoming Victoria - NSW Interconnector West (VNI-West) Transmission Network Project;
  • Proximity to transport access with minimal impact to local roads and excellent access to major roads;
  • Consideration for distance buffering (2 km+) of wind turbines to the nearest non-involved dwellings;
  • Potentially low environmental impacts - the site has minimal tree and shrub coverage and has been historically heavily grazed and cropped; and
  • Excellent complementary use of land with farming.
