Welcome to Cannie Wind Farm

A new wind farm project in Australia

The Project

Welcome to the home page of the Cannie Wind Farm.

The proposed location for the Project is approximately 25 kilometres west of the township of Kerang, in North-West Victoria. The wind farm will include up to 174 wind turbines and produce up to 1300MW of electricity.

In mid 2024 RES submitted a referral for the Project, to the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) under the Victorian Environmental Effects Act (1978). DTP have determined that an Environmental Effect Statement (EES) is required for the development of the wind farm and powerline connection to the proposed VNI-West. DTP will now develop EES scoping requirements for public consultation and set up a Technical Reference group to advise on EES preparation. Environmental studies have commenced.

We intend to submit a planning application for the Cannie Wind Farm Project in 2026. The Project will commence construction late 2028, pending planning approval and the construction of the Victoria - NSW Interconnector West (VNI West) transmission project.
